How did I get here?
Life’s a journey and I didn’t start mine believing I would train as a psychotherapist. It was a chance encounter at the age of 30 that finally drove me to make the change. I haven’t looked back. In fact, I can’t imagine doing anything else really. My work allows me to combine my passions – people and health.
I’ve trained with some of the most extraordinary people in the fields of psychology, neuroscience and health. Most of them pioneers and mavericks. All of whom have challenged, and continue to challenge, how we think about mental health, relationships and what it means to be human. I’ve learnt so much from them, and deeply grateful for their wisdom and courage. They all influence who I am and how I work as a psychotherapist and there are some who deserve to be mentioned by name: Hedy Schleiffer, Harville Hendrix, Bessel Van Der Kolk, Dan Siegel, Stephen Porges, Ros Draper, Bruce Ecker, Richard Schwartz, Cathy Steele and Ed Tronik.
So what kind of therapist am I?
Some say I’m unorthodox in my approach because I’m not attached to one therapeutic model. I use whatever tools and techniques necessary to provide you with the best opportunity for growth, healing and good health.
My role is to help you go beyond your stories so we can explore how you make meaning of your experiences. Only then can we address what really keeps you and your relationships stuck.
Most importantly, I will champion you and use every internal and external resource I have to support you on your journey to healing and good health.
Now for the official stuff
I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist and hold membership with the BACP. I graduated with a Post Grad in Transpersonal Psychotherapy from CCPE (Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education) in 2005. I became an internationally certified Imago therapist in 2007. I was invited to study in Miami, Florida for 3 years (2011-2014) with Hedy Schleifer where I received Master EcCT Therapist certification. In 2017 I became the first psychotherapist in the UK to certify in Coherence Therapy.
